1) Hawthorne's purpose for writing this story was to create a scary but unique story
2)I don't agree that Brown's wife name is faith. I don't think it fits her personality based off her actions. I think brown has somewhat sort of faith in her.
3)I think the pink ribbon signifies her purity
4)I don't think we really know if what he saw was real or not because he tells his wife to not obey the devil but we don't know if she actually did
5)The old man is the devil. We know its the devil because Brown learns that the devil can take any appearance
